We all do so many things to make people like us. Very subconsciously that too. But end of the day if someone likes you but doesn’t respect you, I feel that’s a bigger problem. Because then they’re not valuing what you say or want, but they think you’re nice because you always comply.
We cannot stop being critical and pointing out problems for the sake of being liked. We cannot sabotage what we’re supposed to do for the sake of pleasing others. That then would be the biggest form of disrespect we offer ourselves.
Perhaps I’d prefer to be known as a difficult person to deal with because of the standards I set for myself and others, as against lowering the bar and being nice.
