I see so many people fussing about the template to use. I did too. I still do.
But the only role that appearance has is in turning eyeballs. In getting attention. If you ultimately do not have has the meat, there’s no point.
I came across this tweet by Aleksandr Volodarsky that talks about this same thing. He sent a google themed resume for a role in Google. (For a long time, I had a similar template)
But he says he got enough attention, but was still not qualified.
When you’re thinking of giving your resume a boost, do the work and spend maybe 6 months in doing a few projects aligned to your goals. The colour, font and themes will matter much less if you’re right person for the role.
Fun fact: 2/3 roles I have pursued in my life did not even need my resume.
